Popular magician goes on first tour with Armed Forces Entertainment
Internationally renowned illusionist Rob Lake enthralled U.S. troops and their families stationed in Europe this fall with his mesmerizing magic show, A Night of Magic. Acclaimed as the magic industry's foremost rising star, Lake has been rated the number one touring magic show by his peers. At age 25, Lake was awarded the prestigious Merlin Award- the highest honor in the Magic Industry. At age 16, he was named America's Greatest Young Magician by the Fox Family Channel. In addition, he has created numerous illusions and effects for other magicians, including Kirby VanBurch and David Copperfield.
Lake began his career at the young age of 10 by performing for civic groups and children's parties in his hometown of Norman, Okla. Since 2003, Lake has toured full-time throughout the United States and overseas. He recently returned from his second sell-out tour in Japan.
Lake was especially excited to be on his first tour for the military. "My grandfather served in Japan in World War II and one of his favorite memories was getting to see Irving Berlin perform for the troops." In fact, it was Lake's grandfather who encouraged him to go on a military tour if he got the chance.
"I know how much our troops are sacrificing for our country and how difficult it is to be far from home," Lake said. "With my show I want to bring them the chance to suspend disbelief for a short time and to enjoy the childlike sense of wonder, joy and excitement. That's the gift I want to give to our troops and their families as a way to say thanks for all that they do."
Lake customized his touring show for the US troops and included his talented dancers and his favorite and most popular signature illusions. The show is known for engaging audience members in a number of the illusions.
